Dr Mary Kelly is Professor (Finance) and Chair of Insurance in the Lazaridis School of Business & Economics at Wilfrid Laurier University. She has a B.Math (Statistics) degree and a M.Math (Actuarial Science) degree, both from the University of Waterloo and a Doctorate in Commerce (Finance) from the University of British Columbia. Previously, she has taught at University of Calgary and worked as an actuary before entering academia. She has completed the Canadian Risk Manager designation and is an active member of both the Southern Risk and Insurance Association and the American Risk and Insurance Association. She has consulted for several organizations including the Insurance Institute of Canada, the Insurance Bureau of Canada, the Ministry of Finance for Ontario, the Ministry of Finance for Alberta and the Property and Casualty Insurance Compensation Corporation, and has provided expert witness testimony on the use of age in pricing auto insurance at the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal. Her research has been published in the Journal of Risk and Insurance, the North American Actuarial Journal, Risk Management and Insurance Review, among others.
